The Acreage

The Acreage is a community located just areas west and northwest of the Village of Royal Palm Beach, FL and consists of more than 17,000 home sites for single family homes with both paved and unpaved roads. The lots are 1.14 acres and larger.  Zip codes in The Acreage area are 33411 (Royal Palm Beach), 33412 (West Palm Beach) and 33470 (Loxahatchee).

The Acreage area was originally called Royal Palm Beach Colony. Some parts of The Acreage are also located within Loxahatchee. It was originally developed by Samuel Friedland and his development company, Royal Palm Beach Colony, Inc. The Acreage was developed to house workers that were employed by the Callery Judge and Mecca Citrus Groves located just miles away. The idea was to create an area where workers lived in a community, and were given one acre per household, hence the name "The Acreage."

The Acreage today is home to a still-growing population of approximately 50,000 residents who value open spaces and the rural, equestrian, agricultural lifestyles. This land space coupled with few land restrictions has made this area a haven for exotic animals including emus, iguanas, peacocks, and alpacas. It is also surrounded by nature preserves and only fifteen minutes from the beach and downtown West Palm Beach.

The Acreage has 3 elementary schools and one middle school. Numerous baseball parks are located in the area along with churches, many which are based in schoolyards. Businesses are sprouting up all on the boundaries of the neighborhood(Notably Northlake Blvd/Coconut Blvd and Orange Blvd/Seminole Pratt Whitney Road) while the center of area is filled with modern model homes. The border that lies between Royal Palm Beach and The Acreage has a welcome sign indicating the rural/suburban difference between the two communities.

There are 8 neighborhood parks with restroom facilities including a 40-acre Community Park with athletic fields, picnic facilities and playground and a 7-acre equestrian park open for daily use. There are 3 neighborhood parks with multi-purpose fields, sand volleyball, tennis, basketball and racquetball courts. The Kidscape Park is one of the largest playgrounds in the western communities. Organized youth baseball, softball, cheerleading, flag and tackle football programs are offered through the Acreage Athletic League. Park pavilions can be reserved for organized events and parties.
